A front page story headlined: "Rawlings fumes but opposition at his heels", talks about a contemplated impeachment proceedings by the Minority Group in Parliament against President Jerry Rawlings. The story says the Minority in Parliament is to begin an impeachment process towards the removal of President Rawlings from office. The process is to force the Chief Justice to convene a tribunal to inquire into the grounds for the impeachment application. The Guide says the Minority Group is taking this position following its failed attempt to get Parliament to debate the alleged $5million sleaze money to President Rawlings by the government of the late Nigerian leader, General Sani Abacha.. The Minority is using Article 69 of the constitution as one of the grounds for impeachment. The Article states in parts that: "The President shall be removed from office if he is found to have conducted himself in a manner which brings or is likely to bring the high of the Presidency into disrepute, ridicule or contempt" GRi
