A prominent member of the Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu, has mocked the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as he describes the current controversy over some parliamentary seats being declared vacant as the karma of the NPP.

Solomon Owusu during a discussion on TV3’s NewDay monitored by MyNewsGh.com stated that the judiciary has damaged the minds of Ghanaians.

According to him, lawyers, law lecturers are all coming up with wild interpretations of the Constitution, especially on Article 91.

“When the General Secretary of a party writes about the exit of members, then that’s the party’s position. The party says the moment you declare your intentions of contesting as an independent candidate, then you desist from being part of them. The karma that used to work back then was too slow. Now the karma is fast. This karma is too fast.” He stated

Solomon Owusu referred to 2020 when the then speaker of parliament, Prof Aaron Mike Ocquaye declared the seat of the Fomena Member of Parliament (MP) vacant after he filed to contest as an Independent Candidate.

He slammed the NPP for its double standards in this case, arguing that the ruling party is insulting the intelligence of Ghanaians.

He emphasized that Cynthia Morrison and Kojo Asante are no more members of the NPP under the rules they set for themselves.
