The police at Nkoranza have arrested and placed in custody two farmers suspected of attempted murder. The suspects were alleged to have attacked Opanin Effah with a cutlass on his farm and inflicted wounds on him which rendered him unconscious and had to be rushed to Saint Theresa's hospital at Nkoranza, where he regained consciousness.
Mr Peter Akwasi Denteh, Superintendent in-charge of the District Police told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza that on July 28, this year the suspects attacked the victim on his yam farm and attempted to kill him for what reason the police were still investigating. He said Opanin Effah was rescued by some farm neighbours who heard his screams and found him in a pool of blood.
"The farm neighbours managed to arrange for a means of transport and rushed the victim to the hospital where he regained consciousness and mentioned the names of the suspects as those who attacked him". The police superintendent said the suspects had been arraigned before court, which remanded them to allow for further investigations. Mr Denteh advised the people to volunteer information to the police about suspected criminals for their arrest.
