"NDC Reformers take over the North", is the screamer on the front page of the Weekend Stateman
The paper says a meticulously planned strategy to take over the leadership of the NDC in the Northern which started in late August, may come to fruition when the regional congress takes place on Sunday November 22. The Weekend Stateman says Alhaji Mahammadu Maida, the veteran who has for the past seven years, steered the NDC through storm and ticks in the region, is not likely to contest for the post. According to the paper, political advisers have hinted that they have received information from several constituencies that the Reform Movement is sending a new propaganda message: Remove the old, pro-Rawlings candidates and replace them with those paying allegiance to the Reform Movement.
