Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo has described the youthful population of the country as the biggest asset to the nation.

Speaking at the launch of a twelve-week online digital, marketing and entrepreneurship training programme in Accra, the Senior Minister said the youth make up 60% of Ghana’s population, therefore, the training programme will not only give an extension to Ecobank but will go a long way to attract other financial institutions to come on board.

“Please let us see you come out and create a job for yourself, make Ghana better which will encourage not only Ecobank to expand but will attract other financial institutions to get into it” he said.

He further advised beneficiaries of the programme not to disappoint the government.

The online digital, marketing and entrepreneurship training programme is to engage a critical mass of young people who will be equipped with the requisite technology-driven entrepreneurial skills to use the internet, especially social media to market their products and services as well as start virtual offices in a bid to reduce unemployment in Ghana.

The twelve weeks training programme is targeted at persons between the ages of 15 to 35 with a minimum knowledge in Information and Communication Technology across all ten Regions of Ghana.

ECOBANK has offered to hire the 3,000 participants who have been selected for a three-month training programme in online digital marketing and entrepreneurship.

The programme is organised by the National Youth Authority in collaboration with the Accra Digital Center and the Ghana-India Kofi Annan ICT Center of Excellence.
