The funeral committee of the late Tsilefuatse and Shipi Agbeteykor, IIII, the first Asafuatse of Nungua, has officially announced the traditional activities that will herald the funeral and burial of the late traditional ruler.
The activities will start on November 17 and end on December 2, 2024.
The Head of the funeral committee and Nungua Mankralo Shuonotalo, Tetse Nii Bortey Kofi Frankwa, has called on Nungua indigenes, Ga-Damgbe residents, and all Ghanaians to come and witness how ancient traditions and customs are used to bury Tsilefuatse.
According to Nungua customs and tradition, the late Tsilefuatse and Shipi Agbeteykor, IIII, had in his custody the tsile drums.
Tetse Nii Bortey Kofi Frankwa, who is also Oyibi Gonten Mantse, said the tsile drums are used to perform traditional rites for every male before he is ushered into adulthood and into the traditional army.
The adult males, according to Tetse Nii Bortey Kofi Frankwa, are also taught how to shoot guns and catch crabs by Tsilefuatse. The tsile drums are also used to perform traditional rites for traditional rulers and chiefs from Nungua, Gamashie, and Ada.
The funeral committee chairman paid glowing tribute to the late Tsilefuatse and Shipi Agbeteykor, IIII, for his bravery.
He said he led and was part of battles the Nungua people fought. Tsilefuatse and Shipi Agbeteykor, IIII, were also said to have played a pivotal role and were instrumental in solving land boundary disputes.
The funeral is being supervised by King Wellentsi III, the Paramount Chief of Nungua Traditional Area, Gbobuwulomo, including chiefs and elders of the Borteywey family.
