Throughout Ghana's history, there have been fascinating moments of historical significance involving the families of future leaders and prominent figures dating back to the era of the independence movement.

The latest sighting involves the family of the current Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, meeting Ghana's first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, in 1962.

At that time, a young baby named Abdulai Bawumia, who is the brother of Dr. Bawumia, was introduced to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah by his parents, Mumuni Bawumia and Mrs. Bawumia, at their residence at Tamale in the Northern Region.

The fascinating image was taken after a failed assassination attempt through a bomb attack was orchestrated against Dr. Kwame Nkrumah by his political opponents on August 1, 1962.

Following the incident, which took place in the Pusiga District of the Upper East Region, the town gained fame locally and internationally after Nkrumah survived the assassination attempt on his life.

While in recovery, he visited Mumuni Bawumia, who is not only the father of the current Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, but was also a prominent figure in Ghana's political landscape.

The image shared by the Daily Graphic showed the Bawumia family dressed in traditional Ghanaian attire, reflecting the style of that era, with Dr. Nkrumah interacting with baby Abdulai Bawumia as they all shared smiles.
