The New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the Suhum Constituency in the Eastern Region, Francis Asiedu Bekoe, popularly known as Protozoa, has declared that he remains unfazed by the decision of the incumbent MP, Boafo Kwadwo Asante to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Mr. Bekoe expressed confidence in the support he has received from the people of Suhum, stating, "The good people of Suhum appreciate my work and like what I have done for them, and this will translate into votes come December 7, 2024."

He emphasized that the NPP remains a strong party in the Constituency and that the party members and supporters recognize his contributions as the party’s candidate.

"I have done a lot of work, including creating job opportunities for over 300 youth in the area," Mr. Bekoe added.

He further listed his achievements, which include covering medical bills, paying school and hostel fees, and providing critical infrastructure such as boreholes and toilet facilities.

He also mentioned lobbying for the construction of a modern hospital and an astroturf, with construction set to begin on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Additionally, Mr. Bekoe noted his efforts to equip the Suhum Government Hospital, providing oxygen for each bed powered by solar energy, as well as incubators, ECG machines, and warmers.

He has also sponsored various festivals in the area since 2022 and reshaped some unmotorable roads.

“These are my personal interventions for the people of Suhum,” he said, highlighting his contributions to the community.

Addressing the incumbent MP’s decision to run independently, Mr. Bekoe said his focus remains on fulfilling his pledges to the people of Suhum and that he would not be distracted by what he referred to as "shenanigans."

He praised the NPP’s performance in the Constituency, stating that the party is the only one to have awarded major road contracts in the history of the Constituency.

Mr Bekoe made these claims while speaking in an interview with Classfmonline.com on Thursday, September 5, 2024

He noted, however, that the COVID-19 pandemic had caused delays in some contractors' work, but assured that the government is actively working to bring them back to their sites.

Mr. Bekoe revealed that 70 percent of the roads in the Constituency have been awarded for construction, reinforcing the government's commitment to improving infrastructure in Suhum.
