A construction worker recently recounted a shocking and harrowing experience on how he had to amputate his hand after an accident with a concrete mixer.

According to him, while cleaning the machine after work, he accidentally inserted his hand into the mixer, which began grinding and severing his fingers.

In a panic, fearing for his life, he used his phone to take pictures before a security guard attempted to help, but inadvertently made the situation worse.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Day Show on TV3, he narrated how the mixer began grinding and severing his hand, forcing him to make the desperate decision to amputate his own hand at the elbow joint to escape the excruciating pain and prevent further injury.

"We were using the concrete mixer, so after work, we had to wash the concrete mixer. I was doing that, and I saw the machine go through my three fingers. You won't believe what happened. I thought I was going to die, so I was taking pictures. While grinding, someone took the phone from me and wanted to help me, but the person was rather helping me go in. He was the security man, and he had a knife. So, I took the knife straight from him and started to cut my hand because I was thinking I was going to die.

"So, I had to get myself out. I just cut my hand, I cut some off, like the elbow joint. I was in pain. I thank God that the knife didn't go straight to my stomach. Getting me from the machine, getting all this meat from the machine, and getting to the hospital, they were asking where I was coming from, if I had insurance. I was looking at a dustbin over there, I saw a bottle, crushed it, and I was trying to cut it off because it was heavy. Until they gave me something to sleep, and in three days, I saw my arm like this, which is good. This has made me proud," he explained.

Today, he is proud to have survived that dark period in his life, explaining that the process of recovery took three days but his resilience and determination during that moment really paid off.
