Bernard Allotey Jacobs, a former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), met the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, at the recent Oguaa Fetu Afahye.

In a photograph shared on X, the two politicians are seen embracing each other in a happy mood.

Allotey Jacobs captioned the photo, “The next Vice President of the Republic Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh @ Oguaa Fetu Afahye.”

Allotey, who has been dismissed from the NDC, has pledged to vote for the NPP presidential candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2024 elections and retire from active politics afterwards.

On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, Bernard Allotey Jacobs was expelled from the NDC.

This followed the unanimous adoption and acceptance of the report and recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee set up to look into allegations of misconduct and anti-party behaviour levelled against him.

According to a letter to Mr Allotey Jacobs, who had announced his secession from the party a week before the incident, the Committee found him guilty of the allegations and recommended his expulsion.

“The Functional Executive Committee acting in compliance of Article 48(1) of the NDC Constitution has unanimously adopted the report and accepts fully its recommendation for your expulsion from the party,” the letter signed by General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia on Tuesday, March 23 said.

“You are therefore by the decision of FEC been expelled from the National Democratic Congress and for that matter no more recognised as a member of the party and cannot carry yourself as such.”

Though Allotey Jacobs was initially leaning towards the NPP, he has since intensified his support for the party and has been promoting the ruling party's accomplishments.
