Recent reports of two Ghanaian women who went on combined business trips and leisure but tragically never returned have sparked outrage and shock.

In the first instance, Afiba Tandoh and her friend Celine Ndudim, a Nigerian, went missing in Nigeria on April 27, 2024, and were later found dead under gruesome circumstances.

The pair had travelled from Port Harcourt to Abia State on April 19, 2024, to attend a wedding, but it was unexpectedly called off, reports said.

They are reported to have been last seen at Panyu Hotel and Resort in Aba, promising to return by April 29.

However, their sudden disappearance sparked concern, and a WhatsApp message hinted at a possible abduction scenario.

Tragically, their bodies were later discovered, with one showing signs of mutilation.

A man known as Andrew Amichi, believed to be the prime suspect, was arrested but reportedly died in custody, fueling further speculations of alleged organ harvesting and police complicity.

As the shock and horrors of that case was settling, a separate incident involving a 24-year-old graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology hit the internet.

While the death of Lois Abena Koranteng has so far not been linked to anything like the Nigerian case involving Afiba and her friend, it has still generated a lot of interests.

The circumstances surrounding the death of the young lady are still not public, but according to her brother, she was found dead in a hotel pool at Sekondi-Takoradi on June 8, 2024.

Her family has since suspected foul play, demanding a thorough investigation into the death.

In an exclusive phone interview with GhanaWeb, a brother of the late Lois, George Agyenim Boateng expressed displeasure over the slow-paced investigations into the death of his sister.

Following the death of Lois Koranteng, a petroleum engineering graduate of the KNUST, on June 7, 2024, the police are yet to make any arrests and are yet to address the family on the progress of their investigations, a month after the incident.

According to George Agyenim Boateng, the reports of the police autopsy conducted at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital have also been concealed from the family, as the police claim they are holding the report to assist in their investigations.

Appealing to the police to speed up the investigations into the incident, he said he feels his sister’s case has been sidelined.

He added that this process, has however, delayed and it is the reason he brought the attention of the public to the matter.

“We don’t know if Icons Energy (the company) is conducting a private investigation. The only people we know are conducting investigations which we are aware of is the Ghana Police Service and we trust Ghana Police such that they can do their best to fish it out.

"But I brought it to social media because to me, I feel the matter is being sidelined and I needed people to support me to seek justice for my sister. At least the police should hurry with their investigations because we are in pain”, he told GhanaWeb.

George Agyenim Boateng further stated that the company in question - Icon Energy, where his late sister worked, has since visited the family to formally express their condolences.

Recounting what actually happened, he said the late Lois Abena Koranteng called the family on June 7, 2024, to inform them of her business trip to Anaji, a township of Takoradi in the Western Region, together with one of her supervisors and a company driver.

The family, however, was contacted by the company on June 8, 2024, to inform them of the death of their relative, who reportedly was found in the swimming pool at dawn, but was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Agyenim Boateng is appealing to the public to help them seek justice for his sister’s death.

These two tragic deaths remain topical in many Ghanaian conversations, sparking outrage and calls for justice.

Until the conclusions of these two cases, the families of Afiba, and Lois are left without much, than hopes of getting real closure to the plights to have befallen their relatives.
