The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has claimed that there is currently a disintegration within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party.

A recent publication by The Chronicle newspaper claimed that Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the party’s National Chairman, had reported President John Dramani Mahama to the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) for refusing to appoint individuals from a list he (Asiedu Nketiah) had presented.

According to the newspaper, sources within the party’s FEC confirmed that Asiedu Nketiah was unhappy with the president’s decision, creating tensions within the party.

It is on the back of this that Salam Mustapha, speaking as a guest on Accra-based Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Morning show, claimed that there is an implosion within the NDC.

According to him, just one month into the new administration, the party’s chairman has started sending warnings to the president.

When probed on how he knew this, he cited similar internal conflicts within the NPP during their presidential elections.

“I think that the 2028 elections will have a different dimension because, as we speak, there’s an implosion in the NDC. Just one month into election and Johnson Asiedu Nketiah is warning John Mahama.

“During our presidential primaries, the rancour… you can’t take it away from the defeat because it’s part. Anyone who understands elections will tell you that anything can happen at any time until the last ballot is cast,” he said.
