A staunch member of the New Patriotic Party and Member of Parliament for Nabdam Boniface Agambilla has said there was no need to attend Electoral Commission’s five-year strategic plan.

According to Mr. Agambilla, the entire program was aired on Radio and shown on TV which afforded the party the opportunity to monitor it.

Executives of the opposition NPP on Tuesday failed to show up for the launch of the Electoral Commission’s five-year strategic plan, even though they were invited.

Representatives of the various political parties showed up at the event which the EC says is a roadmap towards enhancing the operations of the Commission for the years ahead.

Speaking on Starr Today Tuesday, Mr. Agambilla said executives of the party were engaged in other important activities, hence their failure to show up at the event.

He said NPP’s presence at the event would have made no meaningful impact on the outcome of the program.

“Why should the NPP being there or not being be a problem…out of 10 parties if nine are there and one is not there why is it a problem,” Mr. Agambilla told host Bernard Nasara Saibu.

He added: “The event was on television so why should I be there…me for instance I have been in several meetings [today] so I don’t need to be physically present, we are in a modern world I don’t need to be there.

“We listened to it on TV and on Radio and we have heard it period.”

Meanwhile, the acting General Secretary of the NPP John Boadu also stated that they had already made their inputs into EC strategic plan and did not have to be part of Tuesday’s “fanfare”.
