Mason jailed 14 years for stealing cement and paint
Bawku (U/E), Aug 27, GNA - The Bawku Circuit Court on Tuesday sentenced 25-year-old Isaac Ayeebo, a resident of Zebilla, to 14 years imprisonment with hard labour for unlawful entry and stealing a bag of cement and a bucket of paint.The accused pleaded with the court for leniency but the prosecutor, Inspector Andrews Darko, called for a stiffer sentence due to his frequent stealing habits.
Inspector Darko told the court that on 14 June Ayeebo, a mason with a contracting firm working on a junior secondary school block at Sapeliga, near Bawku West, went to the premises in the night. Ayeebo broke the lock of the school's storeroom and took a bag of cement and one bucket of emulsion paint.
Inspector Darko said two teachers noticed that the light in the storeroom so sent to check. When they got there they saw Ayeebo making away with the stolen items. The accused took to his heels but was arrested with the help of other people in the town.
Man defiles 14-year old girl, jailed seven years
Sunyani, Aug 27, GNA- The Sunyani Circuit Court on Monday sentenced Augustine Kofi Doe, a 27-year-old farmer, to seven years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a 14-year-old JSS student at Mansera, near Kintampo.Doe pleaded guilty.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alex Yartey Tawiah, told the court that the accused lured the girl into his room on June 18 and sexually assaulted her.
He repeated the act in the victim's room on June 21 after which he warned her not to tell anybody.
ASP Tawiah said the girl later fell sick and spilled the beans to the mother.
A report was made to the police at Kintampo and the accused was arrested. 27 Aug. 03
