Not long ago, Doris Yeboah, a kontomire seller at the Agbogbloshie Market in Accra, made huge sales when she went to the market. However, this is no longer the case, as business has slowed down drastically for her.

Appearing on GhanaWeb TV’s Everyday People, Doris shared her journey and current struggles. She lamented the low patronage of her items, expressing how challenging it has become to attract customers to her stall.

“Life has become challenging, and work isn't the same as it used to be. Selling has become increasingly difficult. I've been here since morning trying to sell this corn, but no one has even asked about the price. When it’s like this, it can take up to three days to sell everything. Things have really changed,” she lamented to GhanaWeb’s Victoria Kyei Baffour.

When asked if there had been days she recorded no sales at all, Doris said it has never happened, however, her expectations are often not met.

"We do make sales sometimes, but we don't always meet our expectations. Some days are good, while others are bad. I feel sad on bad market days, but I don't have a choice. I usually encourage myself and move on," she said.

Meanwhile, the kontomire seller proudly revealed that she has built a house for herself and is single-handedly taking her two children through school as a single mother.

She also mentioned that she travels from the Eastern Region to the Greater Accra Region to sell her goods.
