Toase (Ash), April 7, GNA - The Third Quadrennial District Delegates Conference of the Atwima District branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has been held at Toase in the Atwima Nwabiagya District. The conference under the theme, "Teachers Unions Response to the challenges of Globalization: The challenges of the Teacher in the New Educational Reforms" was attended by 39 delegates selected from both Atwima Mponua and Atwima Nwabiagya districts. Addressing the delegates Mr. F.C.K. Ntim-Gyakari, the District Chairman of the Association, said the District Secretariat of GNAT in conjunction with the Abuakwa Local branch of the association had acquired additional plots of land to be sold to members. He said the special 10th Anniversary celebration of the existence of the Teachers' Fund had seen a special package offer for members who would like to own cars.
Mr. Ntim-Gyakari said during the period under review, the Teachers Fund Secretariat assisted about 900 members with personal loan facilities, while the Credit Mall also served 400 other teachers. Mrs. Diana Appiah, Atwima Nwabiagya District Director of Education, urged teachers to educate people in their communities that it was an offence to refuse to send their children to school.
