Third-year KNUST Chemical Engineering student drowns at Lake Bosomtwe

News reaching MyNewsGh.com indicates that a third-year Chemical Engineering student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has died after he got drowned in the Lake Bosomtwe when the school’s Engineering College embarked on a trip to the area last Saturday.

According to MyNewsGh.com’s sources, the deceased who has been identified to be a male nicknamed “Lebene” was warned by one of the officials at the resort not to swim to the area he was approaching but he remarked that ‘he swims in big rivers so what could a small lake do to him?”.

On their return to campus, his colleagues became suspicious when they realized the deceased was not part of the group in the school’s bus and drew the attention of the authorities.

One of the students who spoke to us on grounds of strict anonymity revealed he sat with him on the bus when they were headed for the destination [Lake Bosomtwe]

“We were singing Jama and making noise together”, he revealed exclusively to MyNewsGh.com expressing shock over his death indicating that he cannot come to terms with the fact that his friend is gone.

Authorities of KNUST it has been established were called a day after to identify the body which proved to be the said student and have deposited it at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue.

It is gathered that the university is going through the necessary protocols before officially communicating same to the media and the student body

Currently, the University is on a week mid-semester break with a number of students choosing to stay behind to enjoy the much-anticipated hall week celebrations.

Authorities are tight-lipped over the unfortunate incident when MyNewsGh.com made attempts to elicit their response on the matter.
