It has been established by the Acting General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu that certain Parliamentary Candidates and Executive position aspirants are behind the problems associated with the primaries of the party.

He mentioned that the party has a process of addressing issues relating to the primaries and it should be utilized through petitioning the party’s headquarters.

Speaking on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, John Boadu asserted that invoking curses on the executives due to inability to contest or to vote in the primaries will not inure to anyone's benefit.

“...if you decide to curse someone for stopping you from contesting or voting, must you video it and put it on social media? Would you be happy to hear your own curses you placed on fellow party members if one day you rise in the party to become the national chairman?” he quizzed.

He stressed that insofar as some of them are there in the party, they will do what is necessary to strengthen the party on the ground; ensuring that the rules and regulations will be fair to everybody in the party.

“If something goes wrong, people should petition the leaders of the party; I, in particular, look into every petition which comes to the headquarters, but if you are not too careful in the management of the party, and take decisions on one-sided petition, you will end up destroying the whole process you have planned”, he added.

“It is sometimes necessary to go behind the scene to talk to people to rescind on their decision in the interest of the party. We have individuals who are pushing people to create problems in the party in order for them to contest the Parliamentary and also executive position. Sometimes we call them directly about the danger regarding their actions and they should know that they will come for vetting as Parliamentary Candidate; the person who placed a curse on me will come and meet me at the vetting”, he fumed.

While appealing for sanity to prevail, he described the actions of some members as "alien" to the NPP's culture.

“....this attitude will not be countenanced because I don’t think such behaviour will help the party in anyway,” John Boadu stated.
