Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications and Spokesperson for the 2024 Bawumia campaign, has addressed criticisms levelled at the current government over the recent power crises, which some say echo the infamous Dumsor crisis.
Speaking with Kwame Adinkra on Kumasi-based Pure FM monitored by MyNewsGH.com, Aboagye firmly differentiated today's power challenges from those under the John Dramani Mahama administration.
"Let's be clear," Aboagye stated, "what we're seeing now is not the same as the severe dumsor that plagued Ghanaians during Mahama's tenure. The power supply today is far more stable."
He acknowledged that the current administration has faced isolated outages but maintained that they do not compare to the extended power cuts previously endured. "I'm not here to brush aside the challenges we face, but I also won't ignore the fact that the situation has improved."
Aboagye urged Ghanaians to take an objective view: "If we look back, we'll see that dumsor was one of the worst crises in Ghana's energy sector over the last two decades. It affected lives, businesses, and the economy in unimaginable ways."
The discussion turned to the toll dumsor took on communities. Adinkra highlighted how cold store operators in Kumasi suffered significant losses, many of them ultimately losing their businesses.
"We can't forget what people went through," Aboagye responded. "The challenges were devastating then, and we're doing everything possible to avoid a repeat."
