The Head Pastor of Alabaster International Ministry, Prophet Dr. Kofi Oduro, has criticised the government for its wastage of the country’s resources and state funds.

Speaking to his congregation during a sermon on Sunday, September 22, 2024, Prophet Kofi Oduro expressed frustrations over the government's misplaced priorities, stating that they prioritize unnecessary things while citizens languish in suffering due to a lack of equipment at health facilities.

“As a nation, look at the way we are wasting things. Misplaced, misappropriated, miscalculated priorities and this nation is sick. From the president to me, we are all sick,” he said while backing it with scriptures from Isaiah 1:5.

He continued saying, “The entire nation is sick. Look at the waste you are wasting, you don’t have ventilators in the hospitals, you don’t have MRI’s, CT scanners, you don’t have these things and you are buying V8. The soul of the continent is suffocating and nobody can hear despite cries and shouts.”

The preacher further expressed sadness, condemning the church and clergy for their perceived silence regarding the state of affairs in the country.

He asserted that the church is afraid of persecution and attacks from certain political apparatchiks, while questioning their roles in national development and nation-building.

“It's sad when the church is quiet. That is the saddest part of the whole thing and they are quiet because they don’t want to be taken on whatsoever. Others have died in prisons, so, who are you? People have died for the gospel so what are you talking about?” he queried.

Taking a swipe at Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's digitalisation drive, Prophet Kofi Oduro said it hasn't eliminated the problem of middlemen in various institutions, particularly in the passport sector, which he claims still persists.

“Your institutions are sick. If the girlfriend of a minister wants a passport, it can be done today but the person who even pays for fast-track service can’t have it until a month. Why won't goro boys take over? Even with digitalisation, goro boys have migrated to another level,” he added.

Additionally, he questioned the government about the use of taxes in the country, despite citizens paying high taxes, yet there is nothing to show for it.

“A young man went and cleared a Hyundai Sonata and the duty for the car was GH¢140,000. What is a sonata? It's cool because it's taxes. Show me the work for the taxes. Show me the work Jubilee House is doing with our taxes then I will pay more. Waste and the saddest part is when we begin to make comparison…” he stressed.
