"This year’s Hajj was a success”- Ghanaian Pilgrims

“Thanks to President Mahama, This year’s Hajj was a success”-Ghanaian Pilgrims

Dozens of Ghanaians Muslim pilgrims who participated in the recently concluded annual Hajj in Saudi Arabia lauded the personal initiative taken by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama which for the first time saw the pilgrims from all the three northern regions as well as the Bono Ahafo region air-lifted from the Tamale airport flown directly to Kotoka International Airport. The pilgrims finally go through security screening then fly to Saudi Arabia without no delay and glitches.

This was revealed in a press statement by the Alhaji Abass A. Adamu, a well-known Licensed Hajj tour Operator/Agent in the United States who have sampled public opinion among Ghanaian pilgrims in Mecca and Medina. He revealed that virtually all the pilgrims he interviewed commended President Mahama, The National Hajj Committee Chairman, Alhaji Bene, and the Director of Hajj Operations, Alhaji Amadu Abubakari Sorogho, by virtue whom direct intervention brought so much improvement in the operations of Hajj, which was abysmal during the NPP administration.

They cited the new Hajj village in Accra and Tamale airports with the modern facilities of convenience such as Air Conditioned tents or canopies, a clinic, descent places of convenience and ablution, offices for Immigration and National Hajj Committee.

Alhaji Abass Adamu, who is also the Chairman of the NDC New York, also said that, the pilgrims also expressed their excitement for wonderful hospitality, decent accommodation, efficient and transportation both in Mecca and Medina He commended the Hajj Committee for using some of his recommendation in an article he wrote after the 2006 Hajj posted on the 15th of January of 2007 titled “Govt. should reorganize the National Hajj Council”.
