The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed surprise at reports of the death of President Mills on some social networking sites last night.
Rumours last night questioned the health of the President indicating that he had passed away. But the President who looked hale and hearty spoke to the media shortly before he enplaned to the United States of America where he is expected to meet his doctors for a routine medical checkup.
He expressed surprise at the reports of his death and said he was just going away for a few days to see his doctors.
The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, Ade Coker, who was at the Kotoka International Airport to see the President off was angry at the development.
Speaking to XYZ News, Mr. Coker said he is dismayed at the falsehood being peddled by some elements who want to see the untimely demise of the President.
“Some people in this country are wishing for the death of the President. This is not the first time and this is not proper for our democracy that people will wish somebody evil.”
“Those who are wishing him to die, they will die first as the saying goes. When you are wishing a friend evil, it will come to you first.”
He said it is time for Ghanaians to eschew such unfortunate acts and shun those who engage in such acts, saying “I think it is absurd and abhorrent and good people should condemn this act.”
