The small town of Benkrom in the Savannah Region came alive on Saturday, November 2, 2024, as thousands gathered to celebrate the first-ever Dingoro Street Festival, an event organized by the Dingoro Street Movement.

Founded and led by the dynamic Borejinkpr Mufti, the youth-centered movement has rapidly gained popularity for its focus on empowering young people and strengthening community bonds across the region.

The festival attracted patrons from nearby towns like Buipe, Bole, Damongo, Kulaw, and Yapei, all eager to experience the vibrant cultural activities, music, and sense of community pride that filled the streets of Benkrom.

The event showcased the unique cultural heritage of the Savannah Region and offered a platform for young people to connect and participate in local development initiatives.

During the festival, Mufti took the opportunity to give back to the community by making a generous donation to the National Association of Gonjaland Students (NAGS).

He presented a motorbike, intended to be used as a revenue-generating asset, along with an undisclosed amount to be used for renting a room in one of the universities with more Gonjaland students to help them cushion accommodation challenges.

He intends to extend this initiative across various universities in the country to help alleviate some difficulties that students face in accessing accommodation in their schools.

“This festival is about celebrating our heritage and coming together as a community,” Mufti said. “We want to inspire the youth to take charge of their future and support one another. This donation to NAGS and our mothers is one step toward that vision.”

The servant of the street, Mufti, also made a donation of chairs and tables to some food vendors in Buipe who have been supporting the ‘streets’ with their quantity and quality of food for meagre amounts. Each vendor received a table and five sets of chairs, with more to receive theirs in the coming days.

The Dingoro Street Movement, with branches in several towns across the Savannah Region, is quickly becoming a revolutionary force, uniting young people and empowering them to contribute to the development of their communities.

The success of the Dingoro Street Festival marks a promising start for what could become an annual celebration of culture, unity, and youth empowerment in the region.
