Three fishermen have sustained severe injuries, and several properties have been destroyed after fire gutted a premix station at Anomabo in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.

Information gathered by Kasapa News' Yaw Boagyan revealed that the victims, who are also the Premix Committee members, were distributing premix fuel to some of the fishermen at the centre when the incident happened.

It is suspected that the explosion was caused by a woman frying fish near the premix distribution centre.

In the event, two premix fuel tanks were burned beyond repair.

Personnel of the Fire Service had a tough time dousing the fire, which was spreading rapidly to other structures. Several properties, including five canoes, electricity poles, and fishing nets, among others, were burned.

The injured were rushed to the hospital, where they are receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, Nana Mbrabo Dabo I, the Queen Mother of Anomabo, also advised her community members to be conscious when distributing premix fuel during the daytime and cautioned fishermen and fishmongers against cooking near premix distribution centres.

Police have commenced an investigation into the incident.
