Three goat thieves sentenced 12 months each

Begoro, June 24, GNA - Three farmers from Aboabo, a village near Begoro, have been sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment each in hard labour by the Begoro District Court for stealing a pregnant goat valued at 350,000 cedis.

The convicts are Kofi Sasu, 22, Kwabena Mensah, 26 and Sampson Kwadwo, 25, all of whom pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector William Kwasi Nkrumah told the court that on June 18, Mr Joseph Asare left his goats to graze behind his house and went to the farm.

When he returned from the farm he realized that the goat was missing and alerted him that he saw the first accused, Sasu, carrying a goat in a basket with the other accomplices heading towards the bush. He made a report to the unit committee in the village and its members apprehended the three accused persons attempting to smoke the carcass in the bush.
