Three suspects arrested for murder

Kumasi, Dec 2, GNA - The Kumasi police have arrested three people for their alleged involvement in the murder at Boadi near Kumasi of a 25-year-old carpenter, Charles Kwabena Anane of East Legon in Accra.

They are Gbando Jokti, 37, a watchman, Charles Boampong, 27, a sprayer and Kwarteng Amaniampong, 32, a carpenter, all of Kumasi.

Mr Ofosu Mensah Gyeabour, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, who disclosed this to the press in Kumasi on Tuesday on the incident, said the police are looking for two other suspects and gave their names as Prempeh and Kwarteng.

He said Kwarteng Amaniampong invited the deceased to Kumasi to make a bed for him for which, the deceased charged two million cedis but Amaniampong delayed in the payment.

The Regional Police Commander said on November 25, this year, Anane informed Jokti, the watchman that he will come to the workshop situated at the Boadi Junction to remove some of Amaniampong tools if he fails to give him the money.

True to his word, Anane went to the shop on that day and the watchman and the other suspects on seeing him called him a thief and clubbed him to death.

Mr Mensah Gyeabour said the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) mortuary for autopsy while police investigations continue.
