Ashanti Regional former first Vice Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched a scathing attack on the Head Pastor of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) Mensa Otabil calling on buyers of his books to throw them in garbage cans.
According to him, it is needless for people to continue to patronize books written by Pastor Otabil arguing that reading his books will not add any value to their lives.
He expressed shock over the collapse of Capital bank wondering why Pastor Otabil was always criticising the NDC.
‘Anybody who has purchased copies of Pastor Mensa Otabil’s books should throw them away. Look at the mess he has caused in the country, you will not benefit anything from reading his books. The manner in which he was always criticizing the NDC, I thought any company under his watch will prosper, but he failed,’ he said.
The Influential Preacher who was the Board Chairman of defunct Capital bank on Sunday, August 21, 2017, speaking to his congregation described last week as a ‘terrible week’ where he was not ‘in the frame of mind to prepare for the sermon on Tuesday’.
Pastor Otabil said people who look like ‘insults’ have been throwing jabs at him since the takeover of the bank by the Ghana Commercial Bank (BoG).
But speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkra, Alhaji Sani questioned why the ‘intelligent’ Man of God sat aloof for the bank to collapse under his watch.
Alhaji Sani who has declared his intention to contest in the NDC’s elections for 2020 general elections charged board members of Capital bank to mention names of their debtors.
‘He is very knowledgeable, I thought he would use his expertise to change the fortunes of the bank, why did he allow Capital Bank to collapse?, he couldn’t manage just a bank?, the banking system is such that the board chairman drives the engine of every institution. Otabil’s justification is that the bank’s debtors are the cause of the collapse, but my problem is, if the board had not approved the loans, would the debtors have had access to the monies?. They should mention names of their debtors, Ghanaians want to know the names of the debtors,’ he challenged.
The Ashanti Regional former first vice Chairman of NDC claimed God is punishing Pastor Otabil for his bad deeds calling on potential buyers not to waste their monies in buying the books.
The licenses of both Capital and UT banks were revoked by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) last week and the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) was ordered to takeover the two banks.
