The Ghana Meteorological Agency has reportedly warned that the rains which started Thursday dawn will persist for a while, hence the need for Ghanaians to avoid fast flowing water.
It has been raining in Accra for the past six hours, sparking fears of flooding in areas of the capital.
A caution message being circulated by Communications minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah said: “The Ghana Meteorological Agency has advised that the rains will continue for a while longer; hence the general public should avoid fast flowing water, move from lower ground to higher places if need be and call emergency lines- including 112 should the need arise”.
Last year, prolonged rain coupled with fire caused an unprecedented disaster in the country claiming over 150 lives.
