Tidal waves on Monday displaced 75 persons and destroyed close to 20 houses in the Fuveme community in the Keta Municipality.
Mr Godknows Bleboo, Keta Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) told the GNA that the incident occurred at about 1600 hours on Monday, disrupting commercial activities, including fishing.
He said though there was no casualty, relief items were needed to support families until the situation got better.
Mr Bleboo said the situation bore more repercussions whenever it occurred in the middle of the night and that the area needed thorough assessment to forestall the annual disaster.
He said the sea, once 500 meters from the community was now less than 100 meters away and underscored the need for the expansion of the sea defence.
