Some disgruntled presidential aspirants have pitched camp at the Electoral Commission with their supporters to seek audience with the chairperson Charlotte Osei for clarification over their disqualification.

“I don’t think I’ll just leave it like that. I want to see the electoral commissioner and her commissioners to tell them what I think,” RPD’s Kwabena Agyei told the media.

Security has been beefed up at the Commission as intelligence filters in that scores of Progressive People’s Party (PPP) supporters are massing up to storm the EC headquarters.

Crowd control vehicles have been positioned at strategic locations at the EC to prevent any infraction as the irate supporters chant war songs.

Among the disqualified aspirants who have been at the EC already are Ekua Donkor, Dr. Henry Lartey and the RPD flagbearer.

Meanwhile, reports have it that the People’s National Convention and the PPP leadership are locked up in separate meetings over their disqualification and will come out with their official position on the issue by 3pm.

The Electoral Commission on Monday announced the disqualification of 12 candidates including Dr. Nduom, Dr. Hassan Ayariga of APC, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings of the NDP, Dr. Edward Mahama of the PNC, Dr. Henry Lartey of the GCPP for failing to meet the nomination requirement for the Presidential contest.

Some of the reasons outlined by the EC that led to the disqualification of the aspirants are filing anomalies including fraudulent signatures, absence of a required number of signatures and improper filling of nomination forms.
