The Overlord of the Bawku Traditional Area, Zug-Raan Bawku Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, has urged government to tighten security at the Ghana-Burkina Faso borders following the ongoing Jihadist attacks.
Suspected Islamic militants killed 35 civilians in an attack at the military base in a town in Burkina Faso.
Speaking at the Samapiid festival over the weekend, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, urged government to strengthen security structures at the Bawku area which is likely to be a target of attack.
“There have been several reports concerning insecurity in neighboring Burkina Faso and the Republic of Togo. This points to the need for government of Ghana to strengthen security structures at Bawku and surrounding areas considering the fact that we share common borders with both countries and could be attacked.”
