The Chief Executive Officer of Tobinco Group of Companies, Samuel Amo Tobbin, has attributed his victory in the Tobinco-FDA judgement to his practice of paying tithes in church.
In an interview on Channel One TV’s Point of View, Amo Tobbin suggested that his dedication to paying tithe turned his misfortunes into victorious moments, following an Accra High Court’s ruling that exonerated his company from accusations of importing fake drugs into the country.
“It is simple and I don’t know if the other churches are doing same. We were not like that when we came in, it’s the church that made us who we are by the teachings that they give through tithing and sacrificial offering. You give sacrificially and nobody pushes or forces you, you give out.
“We teach you how to tithe. Give at least 10% of your income, your profit to God and we do it. All the big guys, you’ll see how much they pay to the church monthly if you go to their accounts. You supporting the church means you are building the church.”
He added “The church has a lot of liabilities, lots of problems like paying pastors salaries, utility bills etc and the church takes care of all the pastors across all the branches.
“We give freely not even thinking about who I’m giving to. You give as you’re giving to God and not like you’re giving it to the church or the pastor. So whether the pastor or apostle is not there tomorrow you don’t worry and that is what grows our business. I came out of this because I pay my tithe.”
It will be recalled that the High Court in Accra (General Jurisdiction) on July 29, 2024, ordered the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to pay a total of GH¢93,905,760.79 million to Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Ltd for the unlawful destruction of unexpired drugs belonging to Tobinco.
