Tobinco accuses FDA Boss of threatening to destroy company

Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Company Limited has accused the head of the Food and Drugs Authority of threatening to destroy the company.

The Food and Drugs Authority has over the weeks locked out warehouses belonging to Tobinco over allegations of importing and distributing substandard drugs.

On Thursday, 22 November, angry staff of the company clashed with officials of FDA and EOCO at Spintex Road when they attempted to lock a facility allegedly distributing fake drugs on behalf of Tobinco.

Counsel for the pharmaceutical company, Frederick Asamoah, in an interview with XYZ News stated that Dr. Stephen Opuni openly declared his intentions to destroy the company of his client thus the actions from the FDA and EOCO.

“It is witch-hunting, it is a deliberate attempt by some people to bring down the company and they are pursuing it,” Dr. Frederick Asamoah said.

Asked who was deliberately trying to bring down the company, Mr. Asamoah answered “the FDA Boss; he said it clear that I would bring you down…I will make you low”.

“He said it to Mr. Tobin…and he gave some funny examples of companies he has brought down. All this is Dr. Stephen Opuni, he is pursuing that agenda and it looks like that nobody, even his own boss cannot stop him”.

But the FDA in an interview with XYZ News maintained that their actions are justified.

Issaka Coffie, a Regulatory Officer for the FDA they had a tip off to the effect that the facility at Spintex was selling fake drugs to the public hence their decision to close it down.
