Tobinco to the rescue of Accra Psychiatric Hospital

Tobinco Group of Companies on Friday, August 19 made a donation to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.

The items donated include medicines, foodstuff and sanitary products, all worth GH¢50,000. The donation is in response to appeals made by the Hospital for assistance. The Accra Psychiatric Hospital has been plagued with the challenge of being unable to cater for patients.

It recently ran out of food and medical consumables due to huge indebtedness to suppliers.

Donating the items to the Hospital, Executive Director of Tobinco Foundation, the NGO wing of Tobinco Group of Companies, Millicent Akoto, spoke about the humanitarian and philanthropic activities the group has been involved in over the years.

She mentioned how allowances are paid to about 300 widows at the end of every month, educational schemes set in place to cater for pupils from primary to tertiary institution, health support fund that help cater for medical bills for patients with special medical cases among others as part of the Foundation’s aim, all engineered by the Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Samuel Amo Tobin.

The Director of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Dr. Pinaman Appau, expressed her profound gratitude to the Group and urged them to continue to support the mental health facility, which is engulfed in insanitary conditions.

General Manager in charge of Marketing and Communications for Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited, Ben Kpabi Tetteh, called on other corporate bodies to get involved in philanthropic activities that will help the society.

He also urged Ghanaians to maintain the peace before, during and after the December 7 elections.

The General Manager of Atinka FM, Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor, and board secretary for JAM Media Group promised the Group would continue its philanthropic activities at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.

Akhil Gupta of Blissgus Pharma Limited (Mumbai, India), partners of Tobinco Pharmaceutical Company for over 20 years, was present to make a donation to the hospital.
