Today - Tuesday, May 25 - is African Liberation Day a statutory public holiday in Ghana
Black countries and communities all over the world will be holding events designed to analyse the present condition of the ?Black World,? and to celebrate our long and difficult freedom struggle.
African Liberation Day is an official ?day of significance? for all black nations and communities. It was established by 32 African heads of state at the founding conference of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 1963. It is a day on which conscious black people all over the world symbolically join hands and rededicate themselves to the struggle for genuine national independence, sovereignty and self-reliant development.
