Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) of the United Kingdom (UK) has confiscated cash belonging to Nayele Ametefe, the Ghanaian-Austrian woman who was jailed eight years and eight months for transporting 12 kilogrammes of cocaine to the UK.

Massive rot at GIS; 9 officers interdicted

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has interdicted nine officers for their alleged involvement in falsification of stamps, permit racketeering, theft of residence permit stickers, underpayment and non-payment of approved fees and abysmal supervision of subordinates, among others, leading to the loss of hundreds of thousands of cedis.

Rawlings storms court to support taxi driver

The High Court (Fast Track Division) Wednesday asked former President Jerry Rawlings to mediate a breach of contract dispute between a taxi driver and a microfinance company.

The taxi driver, Fio Yohannes is suing Accra-based Melbond Microfinance Company for the recovery of an amount of GH¢32,390 plus interest at the prevailing commercial bank rates from February, 2015 till final date of payment. He is also asking the court, presided by Justice Robin Batu to award him damages for breach of contract and loss of income.
