For the first time in many years, one of the industrious chiefs in Anlo States, in the Volta Region, Torgbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui VII, has donated a renal dialysis unit to the Keta Municipal Hospital.

The inauguration took place on Thursday, August 15, 2024.

In his address, Torgbi stated that the new renal dialysis unit is more than just a physical space.

“It is a place where compassion meets action, where hope is tangible, and where we come together to affirm that no one should have to endure such hardships alone,” he said.

He further said the new renal unit stands as a powerful testament that every life is invaluable, and it is their collective responsibility to ensure that no one suffers due to a lack of resources or support.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony, the chief failed to disclose the amount invested in the facility but said it's a donation; thus, the amount of money spent shouldn't be revealed.

Torgbi also expressed his gratitude to his wife, children, chiefs, queens, the hospital staff, and the good people of Anlo.

On his part, the Medical Superintendent of the Keta Municipal Hospital, Dr. Kofi Karikari Bonsu, expressed his gratitude to Torgbi for his firm commitment to improving healthcare in the community.

He stated that the vision of Keta Municipal Hospital is to become the preferred healthcare provider in the Southern Volta and beyond, adding that the establishment of the new renal dialysis unit is a significant step towards achieving this vision.

Also, it is a proof of their commitment to providing comprehensive, accessible, and high-quality healthcare services to the people who need them.

Dr. Bonsu further appealed for a CT scan machine.

The modern equipment and unit that Torgbi donated were received with joy from the indigenes, who hardly received donations like this from their chiefs.

The Keta Municipal Hospital, which serves as the only hospital rendering services to many communities in the Keta Municipality and Anloga District, has over the years been neglected and lacks some basic medical equipment.

Until recently, MTN Ghana donated a maternal and child health block to the hospital.
