Accra, July 22, GNA - Toyota Ghana Company Limited (TGCL) on Friday donated two patient monitors valued at GH¢9,000 to the Plastic Surgery an= d Reconstruction Centre (PSRC) at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. It also presented a cheque for GH¢3,000 to support activities of Gha= na Heart Foundation (GHF). Making the presentation to both departments at the Hospital in Accra, Mr Takashi Takabayashi, Managing Director TGCL, said the Hospital needed support to enable it to meet the health demands of not only the ever increasing Ghanaian population but also foreigners who travelled to Ghana for their services.
He said with contribution from many other responsible corporate bodies and individuals, the GHF would continue to subsidise heart surgery to make their service accessible to all and sundry. Mr Takabayashi said TGCL would continue to support the Hospital to deliver quality health care to the people.
Dr Opoku Ware Ampomah, Director of PSRC, said the presentation was the result of dialogue between the Centre and Toyota Ghana. He said the equipment was an important tool to treat patients with severe burns who needed intensive care and monitoring. Dr Ampomah said the monitor would help check blood pressure, heart beat and the rate at which the patient was breathing.
Dr. Baffoe Gyan, a surgeon at the Heart Foundation, said the Foundatio= n was the only source to sustain the Centre adding that without it many peopl= e would not be able to afford the cost of their service. He explained that the Foundation assisted needy patients with 50 per cent of the cost of surgery and commended the company for supporting the needy.
