Ghanaian actress Tracey Boakye has taken to TikTok live to express her deep frustration and disappointment over what she describes as ill-treatment and ungratefulness from her junior colleague, Kyekyeku.
In a tearful video, Tracey recounted how, in 2021, she invited Kyekyeku to her home after seeing a viral video of him praising her in a movie scene.
Tracey recalled how she helped the budding actor, offering him a whopping $2,000.
It would be recalled that this gesture was widely celebrated on social media, with many praising Tracey for her kindness, while others criticised her for filming her act of charity.
However, years down the lane, Tracey Boakye has narrated how Kyekyeku has failed to show any gratitude and has even distanced himself from her.
She accused him of deliberately avoiding her calls and messages, even as she sought his involvement in her movie projects.
Tracey explained that she featured Kyekyeku in her film ‘Stubborn Ghost’, but when she attempted to shoot the second part, Kyekyeku, who played a major role, has refused to cooperate.
Tracey Boakye said Kyekyeku has completely ignored her but has been appearing in other movie productions.
The actress, while expressing her hurt, disclosed that she had paid Kyekyeku for his role in Stubborn Ghost, and had never asked him to work for free despite her earlier $2,000 generosity.
Tracey emphasised that she has always acted out of kindness, and was pained to see how Kyekyeku had repaid her.
“Back in 2021, a senior colleague of mine sent me a video of Kyekyeku praising me in a movie scene. I posted it on Instagram, and my colleague encouraged me to help him. So, I invited him over, even though I didn’t know him personally, and I gave him $2,000. I didn’t do it for clout or attention; I did it from my heart. But this has really hurt me,” Tracey explained in the live session. “Since then, how many times have you seen Kyekyeku in my movies?”
She continued, “I called Kyekyeku again for my Stubborn Ghost project. Even though he had disappointed me before like three times, we shot the movie, and it was a hit. So, I wanted to do a part two. But when the time came to shoot, he completely ignored me. I texted, I called, and nothing. I even have the messages to prove it, when you read them, you will cry for me. I paid him for the role he played, just as I would any other actor. I didn’t say, ‘I already gave him $2,000, so he doesn't need to be paid.’ What hurts the most is that I’ve come to realise this behaviour is deliberate.”
Tracey went on to express her concerns about the impact of Kyekyeku's actions on her work.
“What if I was relying on movies as my only business? Wouldn’t my investment go down the drain because of him? This isn’t about trends or attention; I am genuinely hurt. You can tell I'm even crying, forgive me,” she said, visibly emotional.
She urged her followers to learn from her experience, stressing that one should never repay kindness with ungratefulness.
“Let’s learn from this. I’m sharing my story so others can understand that if someone does you good, you should not repay them with evil. Kyekyeku’s actions have hurt me deeply. People are now mocking me, especially those who didn’t like the fact that I gave him $2,000. They warned me not to help him, but I didn’t listen. Now, they’re laughing at me,” she added.
Tracey’s video has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many sympathising with her, while others criticize Kyekyeku for his lack of gratitude.
The actress ended her live session by urging everyone to always treat others with kindness and respect, regardless of their status or success.
