Trader remanded in police custody for assaulting his mother

Kumasi, Feb 10, GNA - A 29-year-old trader who assaulted his mother and threatened to kill her was on Wednesday remanded by a Kumasi circuit court.

John Asubonteng pleaded not guilty to the charges and will re-appear on February 23.

Prosecuting, Police chief Inspector Agnes Dinkyini told the court that Asubonteng lived with his mother, Madam Adwoa Gyamfua at TUC in Kumasi.

At about 1700 hours on February 7 the accused brutally assaulted his mother for using his toilet roll and slippers and threatened to kill her with a cutlass.

She said the accused was in the habit of assaulting the mother and the latest assault was the fourth so she fled the house and reported to the police.
