Traders at the popular Mallam Atta Market in Accra, have declared their unflinching support for Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to continue with the progress of the country and their welfare.

Dr. Bawumia, who stormed the Mallam Atta Market on Tuesday morning, was given a rousing reception by the traders, who showed their open support.

The traders, both men and women, temporarily abandoned their businesses to cheerfully welcome Dr. Bawumia with hugs and songs of praise endorsing his presidential bid.

Speaking to journalists during the visit, a number of the traders gave reasons why they are continuing their support for the NPP and Dr. Bawumia.

Top of their reasons is the Free Senior High School policy, which most of those who spoke, said has brought both progress to their kids, and relief to themselves.

"We voted for Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP and we can say that it has been beneficial because our children have benefitted from Free SHS so we want to continue with the progress with Bawumia," said one trader.

"My two children have benefitted from the Free SHS and I am voting for the NPP and Bawumia," said another, which echoed the reasons of many others.

A number of the traders also slammed the NDC for dishonesty as far as the Free SHS is concerned, citing the inconsistencies between former President Mahama and the NDC party.

"We cannot trust Mahama and the NDC with Free SHS and the future of our children because we know what they said about it in the past. That is their real intention," another trader stated.

The improved state of the Mallam Atta Market has also earned the NPP lots of plaudits and was cited as another reason for the support.

"This market used to be very bad. And whenever it rained, it was very difficult for us. But now it has been developed with roads and all that. This is also another reason we will be voting for the NPP."

Dr. Bawumia was in the market as part of his campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday.
