Akotoom (W/R), Nov. 3, GNA - Armed robbers at 0400 hours Wednesday attacked a Kumasi bound Metro Mass Transit (MMT) Bus at Akotoom near Bogoso and took away cash and mobile phones from the travellers.
The victims, mostly traders, were travelling to Kumasi to engage in business when the incident occurred.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview, Police Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah said the bus left the Tarkwa Terminal of the MMT at around 0400 hours with 63 passengers.
He said on reaching a spot at Akotoom, some men, wearing jeans and black jackets with the inscription "Police" at the back, blocked the road and collected mobile phones and cash from the victims.
He said they also robbed taxi cabs and commercial vehicles that plied Bogoso and Tarkwa.
At the time of filling the report, five people including a woman were writing their statement at the Police station.
Chief Inspector Amponsah said investigations were ongoing to ascertain the whereabouts of the robbers and some of the victims.
