Traditional Council bans serving of food during funerals

Nsuta (Ash), April 7, GNA - The Nsuta Traditional Council, has banned th= e serving of food and drinks by bereaved families to entertain their guest= s and sympathisers, during the seven days celebration of a dead relative. Additionally, no bereaved family would be allowed to engage the servi= ces of a live band or play music. Those who flout the directive would pay a f= ine of not less than GH¢500.00

Nana Adu-Agyei Bonsafo III, Omanhene of the area who announced the directive at a durbar to raise funds in support of development, said it w= as meant to cut down the cost of funerals.

He said the week's celebration of a dead person should be marked by a=

short meeting of the family to plan his or her funeral. The Omanhene warned that citizens who not visit home regularly, would=

not be buried in the traditional area when they die. 7 April 10
