Traditional rulers urged to embrace PSI on Oil Palm

Busua (W/R), Dec 15, GNA- Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister, at the weekend called on traditional authorities to release more land to the youth and out growers to cultivate oil palm in support of the President's Special Initiative (PSI) on oil palm. She made the call at the second social interaction organized by the Norpalm Ghana Limited for traditional rulers from the Ahanta West and Mpohor Wassa East districts on whose lands the company has its plantations at Busua near Takoradi.

Madam Horner-Sam said the initiative on oil palm could create jobs for the youth and raise their standard of living if traditional rulers embrace it.

She said the initiative is close to the heart of the President and therefore the government would do everything possible to sustain it. Madam Horner-Sam said she was happy that the company was paying ground rent on the stool lands and urged the company to pay the rent on time to enable the chiefs to use part of the money for the development of their communities.
