Treat 'confusionists' with contempt, CPP members told

Koforidua, Aug. 12, GNA - The acting Eastern Regional Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Nana Owusu Sekyere, has warned members of the party to be wary of people who would like to foment confusion through falsehood and panic among them as the party prepares for its national congress.

He said some people who abandoned the party during its difficult times were re-surfacing to cause trouble and asked the members to treat such "hired confusionists" with the contempt they deserved.

Nana Owusu Sekyere, who was inaugurating a 17-member CPP executive of the Koforidua constituency at a congress on Monday, said nominations for parliamentary candidates had begun and asked the members to elect honest and dedicated "comrades" to lead the party to victory in next year's general elections.

The newly elected constituency chairman, Mr J.K. Nketia, urged the members to unite and help build the party to recapture its status as a dynamic party that it used to be in the First Republic.

He advised members to use temperate language during their campaign to maintain peace and stability. "Your political opponents are not your enemies," he added.

The Eastern Regional Secretary of CPP, Mr Kwabena Apea, swore in members of the executive which had Mr Ernest Obeng Darfour and Lawrence Oduro as first and second vice-chairmen, respectively; Mr Alex Apau, secretary; Margaret Arthur, women's organiser and E.K. Larbi Amoah as treasurer.
