The Coalition for Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has implored the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) to give political parties equal treatment, adding that doing so will bolster public trust in the commission.
The National Coordinator for CODEO, Albert Kofi Arhin, stressed the need for the EC to be transparent in its dealings with all stakeholders in the buildup to the 2024 polls.
Speaking to Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s afternoon political show dubbed ‘Dwabrem’ on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, Albert Kofi Arhin called on the EC to raise its bar higher to accept the outcome of the 2024 polls.
"The onus lies on the EC to conduct this year’s polls in a much more fair and transparent manner to ensure that whoever is declared the winner will be easily accepted by the losing side," he told the programme’s host, Dr. Cash.
"I believe that could only be achieved if the commission was to put all qualified parties on the same pedestal and give them equal treatment," he added.
The CODEO Coordinator commended the Electoral Commission and its stakeholders for the successful completion of the voter registration exercise.
