Aside the shock the death of the former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie, also known as Sir John threw the country into, many Ghanaians have bemoaned the loss of a gem.

In an interaction with some of them, they indicated that the Late Sir John was a staunch politician who was down to earth, and with this attitude, attracted a lot of Ghanaians to NPP.

Some of the interviewees who spoke to GhanaWeb said, “We have lost a great politician, only few politicians could meet the character that he possessed, that he spoke the truth, by and large, he had a sense of humour…For even the general secretary of the opposition NDC, Asiedu Nketia to be his close friend means that he had what he takes to even cross borders because he was a unifier.”

Another, who was saddened by the demise of the Former Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission said he cried for three days upon hearing of the incident on news.

“I’ve been crying for the past 3 days, since I heard about the death of Sir John because I really admired him. He made politics attractive for all,” he said to the news team.

Sir John passed away at the Intensive Care Unit of the Korle Teaching Hospital on July 1, 2020 after battling with a short illness.
