Accra, July 12, GNA - The Triumphant Global Ministries (TGM) in Accra on Sunday donated assorted items worth GH¢1,500 and a cash of GH¢1,200 to the Bawjiase Children's Orphanage in the Central Region. Some of the items included sugar, soap, beverage and fruit drinks.
The Reverend Dr. Abraham Aiyelabowo, the General Overseer of TGM, said the donation was part of activities to mark the Ninth Anniversary of the church.
He said it was the policy of the Church that every two years, they invited children from the Orphanage to their service in Accra to be part of the worship.
The Rev Aiyelabowo noted that children were gifts from God and therefore needed love and care, irrespective of where they found themselves.
He appealed to the public to develop the habit of giving, especially to the less privileged.
The Rev Aiyelabowo urged men of God to go beyond preaching the word of God and come to the aid of the needy and poor.
A member of the congregation offered a scholarship to one of the inmates.
Mr Osei Owusu, the administrator at the Bawjiase Orphanage, who received the items, thanked the Church for the kind gesture and called on other public spirited individuals and organizations to also assist them.
He said the Orphanage currently had 140 children and was going through financial crisis, which was making it difficult to maintain the home and feed the inmates.
