The GPRTU and passengers alike are expected to comply with the directive The GPRTU and passengers alike are expected to comply with the directive

Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU has announced a 10% increase in transport fares for commercial vehicles from Monday the 16th of September, 2019.

The move, according to the union was deemed necessary following a review of the prices of the various components that go into running of commercial transport services.

Factors including a spike in fuel prices they said, influenced the new directive.

Resultantly, passengers and patrons of commercial vehicles will have to pay fares higher than they already are paying for vehicles including ‘trotro’, long-distance vehicles and shared taxis.

The union is urging all its members to comply with the directive and post the fare list to avoid confrontations with passengers.

“Members are kindly requested to comply with the new fares and post the fare list at the loading terminals so as to avoid any confrontation with travelling public.

We further request Members, Commuters and the General Public to kindly co-operate for successful implementation of the new fares”.
