A young man believed to be in his thirties has been crushed to death by a truck at Teacher Mante, a community near Nsawam on the Accra—Kumasi highway.

The deceased was run over by another car after he was knockdown. His identity is not yet known.

The driver of the truck has, however, reported himself to the Police.

Many communities along the highway continuously record pedestrian knockdowns since the construction of the road due to the absence of footbridges.

A youth leader at Teacher Mante, Kojo Minta told Starr News many residents and visitors have died needless attempting to cross the highway.

Two months ago, some residents of Amanase which is also a community along the highway lamented over similar concerns.

According to the Assembly Member for Amanase South Electoral Area, Oppong Emmanuel, a total of 28 people have been killed while attempting to cross the highway since its construction.

“The rate at which drivers speed on that stretch of the road without regard to road signs is scary and if nothing is done about the situation many more lives will be lost,” he said.
